Welcome to Alkaid! Here's how to get started in 3 simple steps:

1. Visit the App: Head to chat.alkaidiq.com in your browser.
2. Create an Account: Sign up with your email address. You'll receive a verification link — click it to confirm.
3. Add Your First API Key: Go to Settings → API Keys and add a key for any supported model provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). You can add multiple keys.
4. Start Chatting: Select a model from the dropdown and begin your first conversation!

No API Key Right Now? You can still explore with our demo mode, which includes limited access to a few open-source models.

Alkaid supports 10+ AI model providers. Here's how to connect each one:

OpenAI (GPT-4o, GPT-4 Turbo, GPT-3.5 Turbo):

1. Visit platform.openai.com/account/api-keys
2. Click "Create new secret key"
3. Copy the key and paste it into Alkaid Settings → API Keys
4. You'll have access to all OpenAI models immediately

Anthropic (Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Opus, Haiku):

1. Go to console.anthropic.com/account/keys
2. Click "Create Key"
3. Add the key in Alkaid Settings → API Keys

Google (Gemini):

1. Visit aistudio.google.com/apikey
2. Click "Get API Key" → "Create API Key in new project"
3. Copy and add to Alkaid

Together AI (Llama 3.1, Mistral, others):

1. Sign up at api.together.ai
2. Get your API key from the dashboard
3. Add in Alkaid Settings

Mistral (Mistral 7B, 8x7B):

1. Go to console.mistral.ai/api-keys
2. Generate an API key
3. Add to Alkaid

DeepSeek (DeepSeek-V3):

1. Visit platform.deepseek.com
2. Create API key in settings
3. Add to Alkaid

Cohere (Command R+, Command):

1. Go to dashboard.cohere.ai/api-keys
2. Create an API key
3. Add to Alkaid

xAI (Grok):

1. Visit console.x.ai
2. Create API key
3. Add to Alkaid

Perplexity (Sonar):

1. Go to perplexity.ai/settings/api
2. Generate API key
3. Add to Alkaid

Tip: You can add multiple keys for the same provider to rotate between different accounts or billing limits.

Creating a New Conversation: Click the "New Chat" button in the sidebar, or press Ctrl+N (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+N (Mac).

Pinning Conversations: Right-click on any conversation in the sidebar and select "Pin to top". Pinned conversations always appear at the top of your list.

Searching Conversations: Use the search bar at the top of the sidebar to filter conversations by keywords. Searches look through message content and conversation titles.

Deleting Conversations: Right-click on a conversation and select "Delete". This action is permanent — deleted conversations cannot be recovered.

Renaming Conversations: Double-click the conversation name in the sidebar or right-click and select "Rename".

Exporting Conversations: Click the three-dot menu next to any conversation and select "Export as PDF" or "Export as JSON" to save it locally.

Conversation Privacy: All conversations are stored in your personal Cloudflare D1 database. Only you can see them. Never shared with Alkaid or any third parties.

Supported File Types:

• Images: PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, SVG (max 10MB)
• Documents: PDF, TXT, MD, JSON, CSV, XML (max 25MB)
• Code: JS, Python, HTML, CSS, Java, C++, Go, Rust (max 10MB)

Uploading Files: Click the paperclip icon in the message input area and select your file. The file will be uploaded to Cloudflare R2 and referenced in your message.

Image Handling: Images are automatically processed and analyzed by the selected AI model. Models with vision capabilities (GPT-4V, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Gemini Pro Vision) will describe and analyze images in detail.

File Storage: All uploaded files are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage under your account. Files are retained for 30 days after the last reference, then automatically deleted.

Privacy: Files are stored in your private R2 bucket. Only you and the AI models you interact with have access. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest.

File Size Limits: Most files are limited to the sizes listed above. If you need larger files, contact support.

Using Voice: Click the microphone icon in the message input area. Your browser will request microphone permission (one-time only).

Browser Support:

• Chrome/Edge: Full support with best recognition accuracy
• Firefox: Supported with good accuracy
• Safari: Supported on macOS 14.5+ and iOS 14.5+
• Mobile Browsers: Full support on Android Chrome and iOS Safari

Supported Languages: Voice input supports 100+ languages. The app auto-detects your browser language. You can manually select a different language in Settings → Voice Preferences.

Tips for Best Results:

• Speak clearly and naturally — don't rush or mumble
• Use a quiet environment to reduce background noise
• Pause briefly between sentences for better punctuation
• Your voice transcript appears in real-time as you speak

Privacy: Voice is processed by your browser's built-in speech recognition API. No audio is recorded or stored by Alkaid.

What is a PWA? A Progressive Web App is a web application that works like a native app — you can install it on your home screen and use it offline.

Desktop Installation (Windows/Mac/Linux):

1. Open chat.alkaidiq.com in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox
2. Look for the "Install" button in the address bar (looks like a box with an arrow)
3. Click it and confirm to add Alkaid to your applications
4. Alkaid now appears in your app launcher and can be opened from your taskbar

Android Installation:

1. Open chat.alkaidiq.com in Chrome
2. Tap the menu button (three dots) → "Install app"
3. Alkaid appears on your home screen as an app icon

iOS Installation:

1. Open chat.alkaidiq.com in Safari
2. Tap the Share button (box with arrow) at the bottom
3. Select "Add to Home Screen"
4. Confirm — Alkaid now appears on your home screen

Offline Mode: Once installed, Alkaid works offline using a service worker. You can browse your chat history and continue typing. Messages sync automatically when you reconnect to the internet.

Email Verification: When you sign up, you'll receive a verification email. Click the link in the email to confirm your account. Unverified accounts can still chat but have upload limits.

Password Requirements: Passwords must be at least 12 characters and include uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. Examples: Alkaid2024!, StardustJourney#99

Two-Factor Authentication: Enable 2FA in Settings → Security for extra protection. We support authenticator apps (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator) and SMS.

Session Management: View all active sessions in Settings → Sessions. You can see the device, browser, and login time for each session. Log out other sessions remotely if needed.

API Keys Security: API keys are stored in your browser's localStorage using AES-256 encryption. Keys are never sent to Alkaid servers. Only your device can decrypt them.

Password Reset: Forgot your password? Click "Forgot Password" on the login page. You'll receive an email with a reset link. The link expires after 1 hour.

Account Deletion: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This is permanent and will delete all your conversations, files, and settings.

Activity Log: View your login history and API key usage in Settings → Activity Log. Helps you spot unauthorized access.

API Key Not Working?

• Double-check that you copied the key correctly — no extra spaces
• Verify the key is active in your provider's dashboard
• Some providers require you to add a payment method before keys work
• Check that the key has the right permissions/scopes
• If it still doesn't work, delete the key from Alkaid and re-add it

Rate Limited? Some providers limit requests per minute or day. If you hit a rate limit, wait a few minutes and try again. Upgrade your plan if limits are too restrictive.

Conversation Not Saving? Check your internet connection. Conversations sync to D1 in real-time. If offline, they sync when you reconnect. Force refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) if stuck.

File Upload Failed? Check that your file is under the size limit. Try a different file format. Clear your browser cache and try again. If the problem persists, contact support.

Voice Input Not Working? Check that your browser supports Web Speech API. Allow microphone permissions when prompted. Try a different language. Restart your browser.

PWA Not Installing? Your browser may not support PWA installation. Try Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Make sure you're on HTTPS (not HTTP). Check that your browser allows installations.

App Running Slow? Clear browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete). Close unused tabs. Uninstall and reinstall the PWA. Try a different browser.

Where Is My Data Stored? All your conversations and files are stored in Cloudflare's global data centers using D1 (database) and R2 (object storage). Your data is geographically distributed for reliability and speed.

Who Can Access My Data? Only you can access your conversations and files. Alkaid support staff never read your conversations without explicit permission. API keys are never shared with anyone.

Is My Data Encrypted? Yes. Conversations are encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest (AES-256). Files in R2 are also encrypted. API keys are encrypted in your browser before storage.

Does Alkaid Use My Data for Training? No. Your conversations are never used to train models. Your data is never sold or shared with third parties. This applies to all AI providers — we don't pass your conversations to them for training.

What About AI Model Providers? When you send a message to an AI model, the message goes directly to that provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). Each provider has their own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing their privacy practices.

Can Alkaid See My API Keys? No. API keys are stored locally in your browser using encryption. Alkaid servers never see your keys. You're the only one who can decrypt them.

Data Retention Policy:

• Conversations are retained indefinitely until you delete them
• Files are retained for 30 days after the last reference, then auto-deleted
• Deleted items cannot be recovered
• Account closure permanently deletes all associated data within 30 days

Does Alkaid Track Me? No analytics, cookies, or trackers. We don't use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar. The only thing we track is conversation metadata (model used, timestamp) for features like "recent conversations".

Cloudflare Privacy: Alkaid runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to your use of the platform. Review their policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
